Re: I want good brakes
I have owned KZU for 4 years now and this year I hade almost no brakes, so thinking they are adjustable!
So I turned the little nut with the locking clip on, after removing the clip, and I got brakes, and good once!
It pulls a little wedge out sa you bring the brake shoe closer to the drum.
If your lining is worn out, install new lining but be carefull when riviting them into the drum as it is easy warp the drum and when you have a problem.
I have reed about the procedure on this website. Search for it and the company what sells the part!
Parker wants a god buck for there brakes!

Re: I want good brakes
I have stock brakes on mine and they work great. I had heard before I bought a Tcraft I would not have good brakes but couldn't ask for better ones.
I still like what my instructor says though about brakes on an airplane, "most" of the time if you have to use brakes it is from poor planning.
I would be interested in lookin at toe brakes [email protected]

Re: I want good brakes
Marc, right now its getting real hard to get field approvals. Last week I got one on a battery box installation on the firewall of a cessna 180, that I've done many times. I had to do pull tests from every way do can think of, with pictures and you name it. I used data from others that I've done and still had to do all the tests and also write a book. Customers don't like to pay for all the extra time it takes. I think its just this new PMI I've got, time will tell. As far as cable brakes, try landing on a 600 foot strip with big trees on both ends. I used to land on one all the time, at my cabin and everytime was the new adventure. The trees on one end were across a beaver pond so you would take off that way,but landing was a different story, you had to stop before the pond and many a time, I almost went in. I was adjusting those factory brakes almost everyday. Sometimes I thought I was going to put the brake pedals through the floor. I new brakes I have work great and as far as going over, you figure out real soon how much pressure to use. Here is a picture of my master cylinder installation.Wolf Lake Aircraft Services
