  • 8 day wind up clock repair

Where can I send in an old Cessna 8 day wind up clock? It was made in 1948 and still works... sorta. Tends to stop on its own at times.

I'd like to keep it because of its vintage but have no idea where to send it in for repair????

Find a jewelery shop that does pocket watch repair. The movements are nearly the same. I had one done a while back, and it works great now. Tom

Ditto that. Just look for an OLD TIMER (no joke intended). The guys who can work on old mechanical watches are getting kind of scarce (and can't see that well any more). You will know when you have a winner because he will have a case full of really OLD watches (that are all running) and a well lighted table with a watch all apart on it and a big magnifying glass.

Agreed , and stay away from the "dip & strip" young guys. Duke Iden , A Foundation Board member, has made a great watch repairman, unfortunately he too is way up in years now!

I have one that is going back to WALTHAM Clock Co. They do excellent work and you get the paperwork to go with it.

I have an antique clock repair shop, bit if it's the size of a pocketwatch, it's probably smaller than I'm interested in.

I had a watch guy tell me it was to big for him. Also had a clock guy tell me it was too small...

Let me know if you come up with anything, I've got a couple of them that need attention...

If push comes to shove there is a shop in Dubuque, IA. that does excellent work but they also know how to charge! LOL They were the only ones to get a 150 year old marine clock of mine to work and it works fine. They have worked on several expensive and old clocks for me over the years. One time he took me back and showed me a $25,000 grandfather clock they were rebuilding! I would have to get the number again as I do not remember the name, but if it is a clock/watch they can fix it! Larry

I found a jeweler in Clare, Michigan that has a shelf of 8 day clocks and repair parts. Roger Hicks of Hick's Jewelers is also on the airport advisory board and has repaired several for me. His work is great and is an old timer in the area.

The shop that Larry mentioned is probably Morgan Clock Co. 815 Century Drive Dubuque Iowa 563 583 2220. If that does not work try area 319. There is 2 area codes for that part of Iowa. They are directly behind one of my part time job location. It seems one of them is or was a member of Chapter 327 in Dubuque.

Larry, does that sound like the shop.

Just up the street from the Eagles club? Behind the auto dealer? If so YES.

                        Larry,
Just up the street from Dan Kruse Pontaic. You got it. I do not know about the rc cars but it fits.

                          Hi Tim,

How did this work out for you?

                          Was it very expensive?
