I'm still trying to get my log books updated. Given that you worked on my plane in the beginning of the "phase two" restoration, are there notations that you need to make in my books or has your work been documented already?

I spoke with Harry, again, this morning about getting my books brought current. I assured him, that if they don't get completed soon, I'll be contacting the FAA in San Antonio, TX and he'll be having to answer to them (not me). Supposedly, the current mechanic will be there in the morning to document his portion of the work and the IA, afterwards. If there are notations that you need to make, shouldn't those entries be made prior to your predecessor's entries? The plane and log books are at Hunt Pan Am at the Brownsville airport.

I apologize for putting this on the "public" forum, however, I'm holding everyone involved accountable for their role in my current situation. If you documented my log books, as the work progressed (as is standard procedure), your reputation and certification are not in jeopardy. If your work was not document, I would suggest you figure out how to do just that immediately. The phone number for Hunt Pan Am is 1-800-888-7524. Mr. Danny Perez is in charge of my log books and plane restoration.

You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar. At this point, it appears that having the previous employee who was an IA HAPPY to help you ... rather than strongarmed to help you... would help your situaiton. If t some time that IA does not want to help you and is purposely leaving your plane in the lurch, THEN it might be appropriate to raise the specter of the FAA and what not.

Just my opinion, as a guy who has managed to get many many aviation people to help get planes back in the air using nice rather than not nice

Personally, IMHO, I think we should have to sign our messages.......Just a thought as I don't know who many of these people are. I, and many others, have since day one.

Re: News from the Factory III

There were no logbooks available when i started on the aircraft. The only thing I did was performed and inspection and made a list of parts needed to assemble the aircraft together! After providing Harry with the list, He told me to stop all work and abandon the restoration project due to financial hardships on the factory! Also this airplane was in pieces when it arrived to Brownsville scattered all over the factory! I notified the FAA on this matter after I left the factory.

Thank You....I truly mean that, Joe. As you can imagine...Harry is passing the buck at EVERY turn, as are those who worked on my plane. It's to the point that I have trouble believing and/or trusting anyone. Unfortunately....being nice (honey approach) is exactly why I have a full restoration paid for in advance and no plane to show for it, at this point. "NICE", where Harry's concerned, gets you nowhere (well, perhaps two steps back but, certainly, no forward progress).

Re: News from the Factory III

And sometimes I thought our city was a little screwed up. A perfect example of one who believes they can do as they please, when they please, with taxpayers money. Perhaps Taylorcraft was bound to fail given where they decided to land the factory. Then again, maybe that was the reason why the factory was moved there. "You need money, sure not a problem, you want a beer or something with that incentives package???"

                        From AOPA ePilot 10/27/06

                        TAYLORCRAFT AVIATION FACES FINANCIAL WOES
Taylorcraft Aviation in Brownsville, Texas, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy without an attorney on Friday the 13th in October, and that has come back to haunt it. Now a judge has told Taylorcraft founder Harry Ingram he can't stay under the protection of Chapter 11 unless he hires an attorney by Monday, according to The Brownsville Herald. A hearing is set for today on an eviction notice for failure to pay rent at Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport, and city officials told the newspaper they are giving Taylorcraft until mid-November to vacate in hopes that the city will not be stuck with the management of parts and machinery. The newspaper estimates the company is in debt $940,838. Ingram did not immediately return calls to ePilot for comment.

Howdy: Although I am as confused as the rest of the group over the factory updates, I have to relay to all that I received my most recent order from the factory on Friday (10/27) - this was after the factory confirmed my order last week and gave me a shipping date that was honored - Has anyone else been receiving shipments, or am I an anomaly? curious WHAT you received and did you install it yet!
There are a lot of missing parts from good intentioned people that left their aircraft at the factory for repair. As you can see from the FAA , the factory apparently has no process in place to manufacture parts. The parts inventory from years ago was apparently seized and AWAITING a Sheriff's sale....

Howdy: Just to keep the discussion open and transparent...The folks at the factory answer the phones, are cordial and informed, discuss what they can and cannot ship, and state that parts being shipped with PMS stamps were authorized under the LaGrange, TX paperwork. According to them, there have been no seizures by the authorities of parts - there was a sale of fixtures that were purchased and returned to the factory. Please understand that I am NOT an apologist for the factory - I am just relating my personal experience with parts orders and shipments. As I stated, I am just as confused as everyone else! Doc
