  • New pull handles for glove box doors

Just as a reminder. You can get new pull handles for your glove box doors from the guys over at Chevs of the 40s. Attached you will find pictures. I needed one but ordered two as the one good one I had has darkened a good bit . Click image for larger version

I still have a couple of complete assemblies if anyone is interested in pressing the easy button:

Hi All I had to order material to make map box doors for CF-CLR so I built a few extra. There is no certification but they are fabricated from 6061-T6, MS2057-4 hinge, AD-4 rivets and carbon steel springs. The handles are authentic 1940s chevy. From the photos you'll see the hinges are formed so that the door covers the

ID:	190356 Talk about fast service! Just got the hinges today. Good news, VERY fast service. Bad news (OK, not terribly bad), the hinges are strung backwards and one of the 4 was assembled with one side opposite facing from the other. Doesn't look like it will be hard to pull the pin and flip the half and half one and while it is apart I will see if I can set it up to be sprung CLOSED instead of open .If you aren't in to messing with stuff like this I would go for one by the Tribe member who is making them. I am kind of a sucker for doing things the hard way. ;-) The 1.5" ones are also shorter than the original so I would go for the 2".

Use a ms spring, cut out a section and install the spring in that

Turns out making it a spring loaded to closed was pretty easy. One end of the pin is flattened. Push from the OTHER end. Much easier to get the pin out. ;-) Hold the spring or you will spend some time hunting for it and you also need to wind the spring a bit tighter. All pretty easy. The 2" hinges will be a lot closer to stock than the 1 1/2" ones.

None, but these hinges weren't my first rodeo! I also didn't stab myself with the spring wire this time....which is a miracle for me. My index finger and thumb usually look like a pin cushion.
