  • wing rib thing needed

I'm not sure what you call the S shaped piece that is attached to the outside of the aileron bay rib as seen in the attached photo. It appears to be side specific and this is the left one that I plan to use. If anyone knows where I can get one for the right side, it would be most appreciated.

It is the rib aileron cove support. Is this one for the L-2? Don;t know if they are the same as on a side by side plane. Also Bob is in Anchor Point, Alaska but this is a small enough part to probably fit in a USPS flat rate box.

Not too difficult to make if you need to. This has the advantage of it not being full of pk screw holes.

Can't see it once assembled so you can use fluting pliers to help form the flange that the cove attaches to.

Basically cut two pieces of plywood to the 'S' shape, cut material to the 'S' shape plus enough material for the radii and the cove flange. Clamp the material between the two pieces of plywood and begin forming the flange with a soft hammer. If you use soft material (2024 0 or 3003 H14) you'll be able to slowly work the flange so it shrinks and stretches as required.

I think these were originally 0.025" 24st (2024 T3) or 6061 T6. These materials will not form easily to the S so fluting pliers will be needed.
