Why not upper carry through spar? that way you know the fuselage is level, if the lift struts are off, then you can tell...I use digital levels now, much easier to just "0" the level in a position and then you can compare angles to anything. TIm

I use a constuction lazer on a tripod in front of the aircraft. Level the aircraft with tire pressure or a jack until the lazer marks the same place on both upper strut bolts. Useful to level the aircraft in this way before (or to check) tailplane rigging.
Note the fuselage carrythroughs and cross tubes may or may not be level after you've leveled the wings in this way, depending on many manufacturing and aircraft history variables.Scott
