Anyone working on any Taylorcraft projects while sheltering in place?

I consider my hangar work area a shelter in place. I am socially distanced from the time I leave home to when I return. Half a dozen hangars at the airport have people working in them, and we don't visit back and forth. Makes borrowing tools or getting an extra pair of hands to hold something harder, but better than sitting at home in our underwear.

Not sheltering, using common sense, getting ready to paint a 46 -12b fuselage, recover and re-assemble. Will post pics.

Sheltering in place in the Sky for now. Two weeks from now probably in the Hangar changing the oil and cleaning the plugs.

Well I just got my 8.50 Classic aero tundra tires to replace the 22 year old McCrearys' now to break the bead on a tire that has been seated for 22 years.

New windows are in, bungees are installed, compass in in for a repair at the shop

406 replacement ELT battery is on order

Another weekend or 2 and I might be able to fly again.

Kroil and stand or jump up and down on the flat tire. If that's not a success use a car jack base to press it off the rim. High school tech.

New 8.50’s are on, way lighter than the air trac’s that were on it before.

Do you have to file a new 337 for the AeroClassics? What brakes do you have? Are the hub caps Cleveland?

No 337 because I had 8.50's before and that 337 is on file here. Brakes are Cessna 152 calipers and wheels, Cleveland master cylinders. Pics of those are on here too. Dual toe brakes. Hubcaps are univair for piper cub.

The discussion I am having now is that any tire you install that meets CAR4 allows you to use the CAR as approved data and can be considered a direct mail in for a 337 or a minor depending on what your I/A feels is necessary, I will not be field approving tires for CAR airplanes anymore.

Shelter in place/stay home......... what better time to get projects done. Recently been working on Tami's baggage compartment (model 19 STC) and Terri's pattern for lower engine cowling, right landing gear leg, Cleveland wheels and brakes, stripping doors, refabricating vent windows, and her instrument panel. Spent the day refurbishing Traci's old Shinns and giving her some new tires. Her old ones will be going on Terri's project. The time flies. Three weeks since we've been to the grocery store and we're doing just fine.


Good day today, only interruption was the UPS guy delivering a box of goodies from Aircraft Tool Supply!
