  • Rear f19 window frame into 1946 bc12

Anyone know if the frame is different from a f19 to a 46 bc12d? Wondering if the rear window on f19 would swap.

They are not the same. The F-19 window is larger and more "squared off". Not square but not like the little "D" shaped window on the 46. I have seen the later frames on the early planes and the early windows on the late ones but don't know what mods had to be done to make them fit smoothly.

If you have metal door frames, then it will go right in. You may have to add tabs to support the window. Its been many years since I installed a set

I actually have wooden door frames, but I think it will work. To clarify I have the fabric off. Going to pickup a set next week. Thanks for the info.

ID:	181176 Since I bought a wrecked F19 a few years ago, I plan to install the F19 windows in my BC12D., The only thing is the fuselage on the BC12D has a diagonal brace that will run through the window but it is easy to make a notch in the F19 window frame to accommodate this and it is not too distracting. I have some photos of BC12Ds that had been modified to the F19 window and will try to attach one. Larry Wheelock

That tube is great to use as a hand hold to steady yourself as you drag your back side into the plane! I don't pull on the tube (kind of think with the size of MY back side I might bend it!) but it does stabilize you as you get in.

I was looking through my 2018 Taylorcraft calendar today and found that the October 2018 page shows a BC12D that has the F19 rear windows. Shows the owner as Darrin Kenny register lists him in New York state.. Looks like N95938.

TCDS wise, the larger rear windows are not eligible on a BC12-D unless it is modified with a 337 or the STC that Terry Bowden now owns

It can be done on 337. We used to have one with them in it. I think the N number is 96337.

I agree it can be done on a 337, but the number isn't 96337...tha's mine and it didn't have any back windows.

ID:	181420When we added our large window frames I was fortunate enough to get a set from the factory (was a miracle). They were Pma’d for all side by side Tcraft including Model A’s.

I all ready have large windows on it. They have these wooden frames. I'm getting ready to refabric and was thinking of using f19 Windows thinking the frames would look a bit cleaner. I just haven't tracked a pair down yet. Thanks for all the info.
