  • CF-CLR Update

    Good Evening all

    Just finished a Blog update.
Progress has been made, and this time it's even visible hehe.
TALORCRAFT Taylorcraft BC12D aircraft restoration maintenance fabric sheet metal paint airplane repair wing aileron fuselage cowling A65 PA 18 super

    Enjoy

    PS
I realized I am in need of a check ride because I have no Taylorcraft time since I last flew CF-CLR in 1989. If there is anyone with a Taylorcraft on wheels in the vicinity of Thunder Bay/Lake Superior who would be willing to take me for a refresher it would be very much appreciated. I will of course pay your costs. I would probably be confident/risk tolerant enough to fly it anyway but I expect my insurance will want a check ride.

      thanks Mike
it's been a long road and I'm nearly out of steam. The blog keeps me motivated and in an odd way helps me see progress which I don't nessesaryly see on a day to day basis.

          Thanks Clark
Glad it's useful to you as well.
Put another long dreaded step behind me today... the headliner! I can't even begin to tally the number of hours that went into that project. Starting with the wrong model headliner, then making a pattern out of an old sheet, then fit trim remove stitch x4 and finally the last three days for final installation.

          Anyway... ta dah:

Scott, headliner looks great and progress is outstanding as well!

Your blog is as well done as your work on CLR, please keep it up as it is quite a valuable resource to all Tcraft owners/future restoration projects as is Rob Lee's blog.

I would suggest when you are done to some how collect it and the photos into an file or ebook and I would be happy to pay for a copy of your "book". Such well documented info really needs to find a method to be preserved as it helps us all.

            Cheers! Mark

              Thanks Mark
Yes I was toying with the thought of turning it into some kind of reference book, perhaps combined with my 172 restoration so it's not such a narrow focus. All that will need to wait until I've caught up on my fishing!
