  • N29715 flys

I though I should post some pictures of my 1941 TCraft N29715 on its first flight yesterday, Dec 6, 2015, after a 6 year restoration. This airplane wasn't much to look at when I got it 6 years ago, as it had been hidden away in a garage since 1963.
Many of you have been through a total restoration such as this.Strip and weld repair tubing, all new stringers, new wood doors, all new cables and pulleys. new wing struts. Well just about everything is new.
Yesterday was quite a day for me. I took her up for a test flight that lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes. The only thing needing attention is the tach which read 200 RPM high. I know it was 200RPM off because I had my tach tester with me.
Luckily, the weather here in Connecticut has been way above adverage. Yesterday was 60 degrees. Could be I'll need to put my skis on for the next flight.

That's a beautiful airplane , Having that much conviction to carry on to a completed restoration is admirable, mine has exactly the same color scheme, except the wings are painted white with a yellow leading edge. Its a BC12D Thanks

Congrats!!! It's a great feeling when it takes to the air successfully after a restoration, and the feeling doesn't diminish with time!

Awesome, beautiful work. Congratulations! Love the live lawn mowers on the runway.

Very nice! And well done bringing air under the wings of another Taylorcraft. I hope the cows got out of the way!

Difficult to see, but do you have a spinner on the prop?

                  Re: N29715 flys

When the snow comes the runway/pasture will only be open to those of us with skis. I have a set of Fed 1400 that I used in the past on a Champ. The thing I need to do is muster up the energy to put them on when the runway turns to snow and the tempreature goes below freezing. Just might keep the plane in the barn till spring.
Rob, no spinner. I do have a 75HP Continental on it and I did a 337 for Cleveland wheels and brakes with Scott hydraulic pedals. Also have a set of 850-6 tires on it , don't ask why, I just felt like doing it. while I was at it I put in wing tanks. I have to say the toughest thing was making the wood doors,I think they took about a month to build. Anyway this TCraft looks and flys great.
                  Thanks,
                  Norm G

You should have a spinner, it helps with cylinder cooling.
