  • Noob Alert!

Hi everyone, names Jeff and I am the new owner of N36121. Bought her at Sun n Fun back in April and have been trying to fly the wings off her! I got my private rating 2 days before Sun n Fun and ended up buying a plane there, to build time for getting my CPL. currently I'm at about 130ish hours and going to school for my instrument rating. I fly out of Spenser's airpark in Middleburg FL (FL13).

    Cheers,

That's some efficient bike packing! Couldn't ask for cheaper or more fun time building! I know it's a long way down the road, but if you're eventually shooting for an ATP, try to make as much of your time at least 50NM away from your airport of origin. Lots of people get their CFI, quit flying much cross-country (pattern work and maneuvers), and end up having less than the required cross-country time when they get to 1500 hours. Food for thought if that's your goal.

I hope the airplane serves you well. I took a look at that plane back in March for a friend, he ended up buying a Luscombe instead.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Ben, ATP might be in the future, but the main goal is to get up to AK and find a job flying up there, number two goal is ag flying. I'm hoping my first job will be banner towing. The plane has been great so far, I'm planning on trying to fly to Long Island after the 4th for a friends wedding...should be able to rack up some xc time there!

That's cool you have that many hours already, sounds like me when I first started flying my T-craft 35 years ago and I still fly it all the time. My wife and I spend a lot of time in Florida. We have a house near Crystal River , wish I had my T-craft down there. Have a good trip to long island, sounds like fun.

Good stuff! In that case, the tailwheel time will be worth its weight in gold (not that it isn't anyway).

I attended a presentation given by Rod Machado during which he said he amassed 20,000 hours of J-3 Cub time! He said he accumulated all this time during two cross-country flights he made in the Cub. ;-)

Congrats, enjoy it while it lasts. I did the same thing, ended up selling our tcrate and I wish I hadn't!
