Yes much better location on mine as a April 5 1946 build. Yes also the data plate appears to be much superior in paint/quality on mine.

Historically it is neat to have it original in its current condition which is how I plan to leave it.

His is from a F21. The two places I have seen them mounted from the factory were on the kick panel below the seat, or on the cable guard down by your left foot as you are flying from the left side of the airplane. The A model had it mounted on the wood cover behind the "Y" column. You can see the cover here, but not the data plate. It was a little closer to the kick panel. default (28).jpg

I have seen a couple on the floor board as well. Most the time they are on the cable guard.
