Did Steve's stc and move it to the fire wall at that time, piper pa28 bracket fits. Unless you feel like making your own bracket got it at air salvage then cut the notch for the cotter pin. When I did the exahst mod just had to move the fittings to get the fuel line clearance. That and the tabs on the exuast where welded on 20' off. The clear the post on the engine mount.

How did you find the quality of the left hand exhaust header that you got from Wag Aero? I bought a right one some years ago and it was great, but when I recently tried to get a left one I found the forward flange was poorly welded with pits on the mating surface and then roughly ground off ---AFTER the coating was done. They told me all their stock was like that so I sent it back and cancelled my order. Is yours a recent purchase? What is it's condition/fabrication quality?

My left stack is about 6 years old. I had to replace the original because one of the tabs for the heat muff broke off at the weld and left a hole in the exhaust. The weld/finish was okay. I had to replace the right one this winter (new one will go on next weekend). I checked with univair or aircraft spruce, I forget which one it was, about their advertised stack to see if it had the same 'aluminized' finish. They get thier stock from Wag Aero. Wag Aero was much cheaper so I ordered from them. I am happy with the work on the new one. I had to replace it because the original was falling apart in the area where the stack exits the cowling?

Thanks Greg. I finally wound up building up and resurfacing my flanges on my old one. It was otherwise good. When I talked to Aircraft Spruce and they contacted the "manufacturer" the new price to build was $600. So much for that source. Old unit went on fine no problems so far.

This is a beachcraft part i don't have the part number it was new when we put it on my A/I had it and we used it.We mounted it low like this to make it easy to sample the fuel with out opening the cowl just reach under and push the valve.Also its the lowest point in the fuel system so it will keep any debris and water.

Been at Sun n Fun so just saw this. I used one from a R44 Roberson helicopter, put it on the firewall. My IA did a 337 and got it approved. Pictures coming.

I didn't want to do this, but I'm left with no choice.

I've become painfully aware of exactly why the "Taylorcraft" moniker is dying. It's the quality of people that run/own the Type Cert. or STC's.

I specifically asked Terry on the phone about interference with the gascolator, he said he'd never heard a complaint or comment. So, I broke down and sent money off to Terry and Doug Combs. Terry came through with the paperwork and Doug came through with the exhaust. The problem popped up when I started mounting the exhaust. We all know the problem. I called Terry and left a message, it went unanswered for a couple days, and still is unanswered. So I started this thread, within a few minutes Terry was in here and I'm sure he read it. The thing is...He has the paperwork!

I'm stuck here in limbo, hoping someone somewhere throws me a bone.

Next question is, given my experience, where else do I go for my Grove brake upgrade and Harer STC?

Dave, a word of advice, you can attract flies to honey but not vinegar...so with that in mind, Terry is the only one you can goto to get these stc's. If you have an, "I want it now!" expectation, you better buy a cessna and pay accordingly for that accomodation. Most of us are in this because we enjoy it, and this is a side thing for Terry so its not his primary job to make taylorcraft parts. Most of us would not have said a work and just moved the gascolator and done a 337 field approval or just forgot about it. Just dont piss off the people who are here to help. If they go away, it will be even harder to get things done. Tim
