    Re: Wing tank plumbing

    Explosive forming, perhaps?

(OK, a very small amount of explosive, but it's an established method of shaping).

Bless him; We never met, but I feel an affinity for him.

Laura never told me about any loud noises. ;-)

There area lot of parts floating around that could be connected together with the pre-war orphan in GA and Josh's paperwork and parts to resurrect his plane. Doesn't anyone in the NC/SE VA area want to build up a project with some great history?

Just for you Dave, it got up to 21 degrees so I drove out to the airport and took a very quick picture.

          Re: Wing tank plumbing

          Really?

I thought it was supposed to say "when less than half full".

Or am I opening a can of worms?

All depends if you are a pessimist or optimist when printing it.

Is "less than half empty" "more than half full"?

Half full, half empty, maybe the tank is just twice as big as it needs to be??

                    Re: Wing tank plumbing

                    Hi folks,
What diameter (OD) tubing do most folks have for wing tank plumbing?
And, part 2 of my question, what diameter (OD) tubing do I need for the A65?
                    Thanks!
                    Jay

All the ones that I have seen are 3/8 OD aluminium tube.

                        Re: Wing tank plumbing

I found -6 fittings 3/8" tube worked for the aux tank and -5 (5/16)from the main tank to carb. I used the original glass gasolator which has 1/8" NPT threads. Difficult to go from 1/8NPT to -6 tube but easy to do 1/8NPT to -5 tube

                          Scott....

Why the change in size for the primer tube to carb?

                            Re: Wing tank plumbing

                            The primer tubes are:
                            -3 from gasolator to primer
-2 from primer to manifold. The union above the gasolator goes from -2 aluminium tube to -2 steel to the manifold. The OD of the steel tubing is smaller but the ID is the same.

Thanks Scott. One more question. What fitting is used to attach gascolator to engine mount?

It's at 1/8" NPT to -4 nipple. I welded it shut and put a nut and lockwire but originally there was just a brass cap which both held it to the lug on the engine mount, and sealed it (the port on top of the gasolator is open to the fuel intake).
