Or we tell them, because it isn't right to leave him hanging out there. NO WAY I wouldn't tell him they were supposed to be knurled.

The way he usually looks at a problems is,

      1) It is fine till the next annual

      2) It is OK for now, but fix it as soon as you get the parts

      3) You can fly it home, but don't fly again till it is fixed

4)You are hard down, no flying till it is fixed

      5) Stand back, it isn't safe to be close to THAT!

I am expecting this will be the second one, and I will probably have the parts before I get her buttoned up and ready to fly. The smooth pins have been there for decades with no wear. I doubt she will fall from the sky any time soon. I also DID check for excess wear and clearance when I put her back together after painting and everything was nice and snug. Haven't had the gear off and with the other thread I am worried about those bushings now. Wondering if I should check for wear when I put the bungees on.

A chance to take something apart. You KNOW I will!

I spoke with Tom at Wag Aero and he stated it was a possibility he could reproduce the short aileron pin. I advised him I would check on here to see if there was a need/interest for the pin.
          Cheers,

I think there would be a need. The only problem I see is the knurling is only 1/16" instead of the 1/4" for the other pins.

                Tom,

I will talk to Tom at Wag about it. They ended up sending the A48 pins out to be knurled as their tool was not working correctly on the pins. I will let him know, also, about the 1/16" knurl on those. He said he has the drawings for the short pins.

                Richard,

I would have to knurl a lot of pins to make up for some of those tool's cost. Thanks!
                Cheers,
                Marty

                  Hi Marty,
I need a set of aileron pins, so if you talk with Wag again, let him know there is a market for these.
                  Thanks,
                  Hal
