    Re: New Fuel Valve

The valve looks grate. Lets support them so we can all get new valves and keep the FAA away at the same time. Wether it is an stc or Tarry's DER stuff.

      Re: New Fuel Valve

Terry and I are working out what needs to be done for an owner produced part until I get a PMA. Since the requirements have changed for PMA's, I have to start from scratch making a quality manual and a drug testing program for myself. These documents can be hundreds of pages long each. So we are still working the owner produced parts issue and how said owner can meet the requirment. The next part is a replacement elbow finger strainer....we will get one project done first before I start another. Tim

Got to love the Feds brug testing program for yourself that's just funny. Lol. Just let us know when you get it worked out. I will need one sooner or later.

          Andrew,

He already has them available. Get ahold of Terry Bowden, several mentions on how to contact him on several threads about fuel valves of late. I have one, looks great.
          Cheers,
          Marty

I think it is a project for nex annual, along with a new tail wheel. I did Tarry's luscome exast mod last year and it was grate. It is defiantly on the List, it will make the IA happy. Had to tweak on mine a cuple of year back when it started to stick.

              Re: New Fuel Valve

Wasn't suggesting using the existing ball valves. If you are caught with the hardware store part, even if it is safer and better than original, you are in deep do-do. It is expensive to use the one being developed to be legal, but if you ever tried to get a part certified like this, anyone would appreciate that he isn't getting rich at that price. Life isn't fair, but beats being burned to death hands down. My 41 had an old valve that the shaft was sheared so that it was never really shutting off, even though the knob pulled out and the lever rotated. It "looked" like it was shutting off, but never did. I did have a nice tight fuel system though. Valve was always on and it never leaked a drop.

I've had one of Tim's valves installed for a few years now and it works great.
