Need Tiedown Rings

Anyone have a set of tiedown rings for sale? I need the type that clamps to the strut. I just need the rings....I can make the clamps. Thanx!

I was able to get (4) stuts to pass testing. They are not pre-wars. If you can find one of the skinny prewar rears, I would be interested. Probably the same section as those used on the Model A's.....I will send you the major and minor axis dims later today.

The last (2) rear struts that I bought (larger than my originals and only one passed inspection) were $100 ea. I would pay the same for another one of the proper size. I need a strut that has a minor/major axis of 1" x 1 3/4" nominal.

Do you have one?

I have a 1.8" x .98" (its bent) and a 1.7" x .75" that is not bent.

I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet but had considered cutting them for use in repairing landing gear cabane struts.

I am not sure if they are the size you were looking for.

Does anybody know what the cast rings are made from? When I was in college we used to cast aluminum in a barn/garage and the process was dirt simple. The alloy we used was called Pistalloy (we melted old VW pistons down).
The rings are NOT very strong and I just wonder if a local foundry sand cast them or if Taylor did them behind one of the buildings.
How many need them? If there are enough it would probably be worth carving a pattern (NO, you can't just use an existing one, they shrink as they cool) and sand casting a bunch of them. Pass out the rough castings for the owner to finish as an owner produced part.
This isn't NEARLY as hard as the engraving has been, or even the pre-war "D" window frames.

I had an airplane totaled from those aluminum rings.

Wind was strong and one pulled into two parts, airplane flipped over.

Only use them to hold the rope in position. What I mean is thread the rope thru it and then around the strut and tie it off so that the rope is holding the strut not the ring.

I did make some steel versions of the rings and I still only use them as mentioned above.
