Need a Couple of Parts for Miss Scarlett

Hi all,

I am looking for a few items to make Miss Scarlett a little nicer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-Any correct US GAUGE INSTRUMENTS and a STEWART WARNER COUNTER-CLOCKWISE TACH, or another similar tach.

-CORRECT STREAMLINE COMPASS (I know, hahaha).

-MAIN TANK FUEL CAP

-WING TANK FUEL CAP

-HUB CAPS- (I REALLY NEED A PAIR OF HUBCAPS FOR HER)

-ORIGINAL ELEVATOR TRIM HANDLE/TRIM WASHER (ESCUTCHEON)

-SPRING FOR THE FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE

-BRAKE HANDLE/CABLE (FORGOT TO LIST THIS EARLIER) I'm a sucker for the original part, my old one worked great.

I am sure there will be other items as I delve further into her but this is a good start. Thanks to anyone who can help or point me in the right direction.

I probably got an oil pressure guage, and have some original hubcaps, but they will need work.

That looks like the one I had in my first BC-12D, but I don't remember it being chrome. Was it??? Thanks for the link.

One other thing.....

This plane has the trim indicator that my first one did not have. I noticed it was not working and stuck at neutral. I did some poking around, my borescope was off getting repaired, anyway the indicator fell to full up trim. I looked with a mirror and flashlight and still cannot tell but I don't think all of the indicator parts were there. Part of it is flopping around and laying on the pulley. In reviewing Rob Lees photos it doesn't look like all the parts are there. My scope is back so I am going to poke around a little more.

Does anyone have templates or trim indicator parts? As always, thanks for the help!

I have a drawing of all of the parts for the trim indicator. Just saw them yesterday, just got to find them again. The whole thing is pretty easy to make and a pain in the back side to rig and get to work smoothly. Once it works, you will probably be able to ignore it for decades as long as you never turn the handle till the thread rider comes off. It is a great design that just needs one time "fiddling".

I took the drawings measured the actual drawing dimension divided it by the written dwg dimension this gave me the difference. Went to Staples and had them enlarge it by the difference. That gave me the full size dimension. Did a test print confirmed. Did it on the engine baffles. Glued the dwg to a piece of aluminum and trimmed it as a template. Made parts for me and a friend. Now I can still duplicate the baffle parts for the 1946 BC12D. Saved me a lot of work.

Any chance I could get a set of the engine baffle drawings? Mine are pretty beat up and I would like to make new ones when the time comes. I got lots to do before then, but it would be nice to have the drawings in hand.

Thanks for the tip, though how do you know what the actual dimensions are? I'll have to search for the drawing, but I don't remember dimensions being listed??? I know that one long bracket makes a bend, how did you figure that one out? Thanks again!

What I did was take all of the parts for my 45 trim indicator and trace teh actual parts while the fuselage was being blasted and painted. It worked slick as a whistle when it was on the plane, took a little fiddling to get it set up when it goes back on but like I said, once it is working it just keep on keeping on as lon as you don't keep turning the crank past the ends of the threads. If you jam it to the bottom of the threads you have to fiddle again, if you run it of the end of the thread you need a 3" tall mechanic to climb over your head liner to put it back together. You can tell who has run it off the ends of the threads by seeing if the access cover has ever been cut out. There is no reason to cut out the hole unless the trim mechanism has come apart.

I am not even sure all my parts are there. Not from what I could tell with a flashlight and mirror. (Why don't the folks who install the headliner put a zipper in there)? I am going to have to scope it, but it looks like they made there own version of the trim indicator, that is why I am looking for some full-sized patterns.

I think I will be probably redoing the headliner down the road and want to get the indicator working so I want to see what folks have for patterns or parts. Thanks!

Of course, if the trim cable stops are correctly installed, then the mechanism should not run to the ends of the threads.

Marty. all you need is one listed dimension. Hope you have it.

I can send the aft engine baffle dwg. full size. made extra copies. I also have, firewall fwd copies, not yet mada to full size but the squares are in one inch increments. measure actual size of square divide bt one result is your enlargement ratio. Side and front baffles, I made from existing damage parts. I can retrace them and mail it to you. for front you may have to make a form block out of plywood. send mailing address, I'll mail you what I have. Happy Holidays

I'm presently doing the trim cable. I only saw the pulley and its bracket. the crank handle. the guide tube by the cargo compt, spring, aft of the cargo compt. guide tube in aft end routed to the notched 1.5 in pulley. I stopped routing until new pulley arrives. There;s something that I'm not seeing.
