    Re: FYI--- Gas Caps

This thread brings back a lot of memories for me. I searched for 13 years to find a replacement cap and gasket to no avail. A collected manual of all this information would be a good idea. You could include the annual inspection and a bunch of other stuff like this and spar replacement etc...

      Jim,

Now that I have officially retired as of today, I can start working a little more on this project with the gas caps.
      Cheers,
      Marty

Jim, Yes I agree. I bought the STC, but it does not show much detail in many areas. That is why I was hoping someone had a picture of their interpretation of the Harer drawings. I have checked Rob's website, but didn't see what I needed there.

Does anyone know where to get the twisty fuel guage/cap for the nose tank?
I think it was part of the Model 19 converson.

                        Re: FYI--- Gas Caps

                        Bob,

I have been busier than I expected in retirement. I need to meet with a friend of mine who has a plasma cutter, (I think that's it), to see about cutting out the tabs. After that I have to see who can braze the tabs and tubes, buy material, etc., etc.,

There is more to it than meets the eye as I will need to build a jig for the tab placement because they have to be in a particular position before brazing, etc. Plus, I am contemplatating what material to use for the tabs, steel and then try to stamp the numerals, (have to buy stamps), or softer metal I can have engraved. There is an amazing amount of work in just a gas cap. I wish I had the factory jig, or whatever they used, to braze. I also didn't get a real good response from members of the forum with someone allowing me to physically borrow a stock factory main tank cap, (my plane has an incorrect one), to use as a model. I was finally able to grab some dimensions from another owner.
                        Cheers,
                        Marty

Sorry Marty, I did not see or just plain forgot. I will get a pic of my gas cap and post it here, if it is an origonal it is yours to copy. I won't be needing one for a long time yet. Larry

                            Larry,

I am all good, I have what I need. I just need to take the time to actually start the process. I have a few of the new caps and they are exactly as those originally on the T-Craft. Just have to get materials, etc., to recreate them.
                            Cheers,
                            Marty
