Sorce for New Wing Tie Rods

As they are no longer listed in either the Univair or Aircraft Spruce catalogs, is ther a current source for new BC-12D internal wing drag wires? While I have the full set of original "as removed" from my project that are servicable, it would nice to have new stainless to go with the new spars.

Interesting as two years ago I bought a complete set from Wag Aero and their inventory showed many more. Since Aircraft Spruce bought them recently it may be that they do not know what they have. Perhaps a call to AS may get them looking at the Wag inventory as I doubt that many Tcraft drag wires were sold by Wag Aero prior to the sale. Sometimes the catalogs are printed ahead of time and do not include the full inventory. I found this out with Spruce before.

Note the biggest issue I had with the Wag wires was they sent me the wrong nuts!

When I was building my Clip wing I had a set made buy a man who did the wires for Wag Aero. Twere was a set up fee of $200 and he made what I needed with rolled threads. Price was very reasonable. UVIVAIR just replied to my query and confirmed they do not support the Taylocraft wires. Also, AS also replied that that after they sold the Wag-Aero residual stocks they acquired they lacked the tech data/approvals to have more built.

Aircraft Spruce probably scrapped the excess stock from Wag Aero. They just wanted rid of the competition.

They purchased McWhite (sp) wires many years ago. I procured custom Taylorcraft round stainless dia.10 tailbrace wires from them a while ago.The only difference between tailbrace wires and wing wires is the length, and because wing wires are longer, they are easier and cheaper to make, ironically.
They are pretty much the whole supplier in the world now.

not true. Bruntons are rolled thread and made in scotland. Macwhyte was a cut thread and made in america. Jeff Nelson is now making the Macwhyte wires here in the US. If you want Bruntons, you will have to contact RARE Aircraft in MN, as they are the sole distributor for Bruntons now in the US. You also have Russ Ward in New Zealand making wires.

Following up on Woody's, I reached out to Peter Peterson (a very nice gentleman). In our long conversation, Pete noted he sold his business and its now operated by Phil Kapalczynski and known as Top Notch Threadrolling LLC, Kenosha WI. I contacted Phil to see if he could make the wires under “owner produced parts” and he replied he had the T-Craft wing drag wire drawings from Pete’s days and provided me the following quotes for 313SS wires: A-844 (33” Long, 4 Pcs/$82.03 ea) A-8020 (64” Long, 4 Pcs/$108.00 e) and A-8003 (42.5” Long, 16 Pcs $89.56 ea.). Since Phil noted could reduce the individual wires unit cost by $10/each if we could double or triple the order, checking to see if anyone else in the Taylorcraft community needs wirers and, if so, please let me know.
