Sad to find out that Wayne Adams (46 or 47, not sure which) Taylorcraft project NC-96400 is for sale. I hadn't known he had passed and the plane is now in Concord Michigan being sold by a family friend. Wayne had stored her back in the 70s to restore and all of the logs are there back to the day she was test flown at the factory (and then bought by the test pilot).
The plane looks to be TOTALLY complete with the original serial number engine and wheel pants and skis. It is pretty rare to find a plane that has remained un-molested for this long and this looks to be a really nice project to take back to original with all the hard to find parts still in place.
We need someone close to the plane to take a look and get a pile of photos, followed by someone to get her for a good historic restoration. Don't be fooled by what looks like just a dirty old plane. She has been stored in a closed dry location for decades and these don't show up often. This could be the foundation for an AirVenture award winner.
Who lives close enough to go take an unbiased look?
