Only the 41 deluxe had the flat covers. Other pre war had domed.

Did you get a set of bungee covers yet? I recently made some new bungee covers for my Taylorcraft. I made an extra blank that is ready to be cut out if your still looking for some covers.

Nice work, Stacey. What alloy did you use? Did you anneal?

Mike, I believe it was .025, 3003 alloy. I did not anneal the metal. On both sets that I made, I ended up with a small tear in the same place. I used an aluminum brazing rod to patch the tear. If you look closely at the photos I posted, you may be able to see where I brazed the tear. Before color coating the set I decided to use, I further smoothed out the blemished spot with some body filler. Despite the small imperfections, they are much better than the beat up set that came with the plane when I bought it.

Flow forming the metal probably would have been a lot easier if I had annealed it the sheet aluminum I used or found a softer aluminum alloy.
