Ian, welcome to the forum!
Do you know Rob Lees, the forum moderator? If not, he is on your side of the pond in the Leicester area and there are some other Taylorcrafts there.
Do an eBay search there were some posted for sale a little bit ago.
I have some post war handles, but they are on sheet metal doors and I have never been able to get them off. Yes, I have tried all the regular removal methods (and a few pretty weird ideas) but none seem to work. Anyone who wants to come to SE Virginia and try is welcome. I just can't justify tearing a door to pieces to get the handle.
When I removed my magnesium door handles, to remove the steel roll-pin (which was of course corroded in) I made a dedicated bucking bar of the correct contour with a hole in it, and a pin of the correct diameter to fit on my pneumatic rivet gun.
With a pal to help me, the steel roll pins came out easy, with no damage to the thin aluminium doors.
Ian, bless you: The Factory (spit) went defunct years ago...you will not get a response. Or parts. Or drawings. That's why it's on the LAA fleet in the UK.
Do you know what happened to the old ones? They are made of magnesium.
Try the Taylorcraft Facebay page...there are many folk on there who are also on here, but also some who only frequent FB. I should be in the USA in April if you find some; then get them delivered to my address in the US.
Rob, do you still have the tool you made to pull the pins? I made one but it didn't work well. Needed to be able to provide a better backing on the other side of the handle. Do you have a drawing or photo of what you made?
I get the feeling that this project has had quite a few bits over the years of its "restoration" that have wandered (it has been under a 25 year restoration already!)
