    Re: wtb for BC-12D:

    Hi, and welcome.

Brake shoes should be available either from Skybound or the Luscombe Foundation (Google is your friend).

Wheel bearings are standard parts, available from any good on-line source. Also, have a look at my Shinn brakes Care & Feeding article, if you have not already done so.

As for the part A5027, I think you may have to make your own under "Owner Produced Parts" rules. The principle is simple...just the same as a Cub or Husky or Champ...just a clamp with bolt holes to hold the leaf spring steady.

    I hope that helps,

    Rob

Many thanks, I figured I'd do that, but was hoping otherwise.

1-1/2" is the spring width, I believe.

One bracket design uses a piece of steel U-shaped channel drilled for two bolts spaced the spring's width. The channel goes under springs and the bolts fit either side of the springs up to the fuselage holes. Use good hardware for a strong fit. Some put a thin piece of fibered rubber or aluminum between the upper spring and fuselage to absorb wear.

Formed U-brackets sometimes crack at the bend radius from side loads on the springs. Univair sells tail spring brackets for Piper springs but check their width and depth.

The bracket has 3 dimples in it, in a triangle shape, they are a pain to punch into the sheet but it is doable. Do a search there are pictures of it on here somewhere if you can find them. There is also a rubber pad that goes between the airframe and the spring if you set it up like a cub. You need to keep that clamp tight, or you will get a shimmy. Tim

check univair, they may have a NOS one...
