Re: Want to Buy Bungee Cord Tool

We had a club tool we passed around when needed so I made one out of pipe fittings that worked well, bought a used one like it & one made from a modded bumper jack that actually worked great. They're all here somewhere. The jack one took 2 people which you should have anyway & don't forget to make it so the gear can't spread. I think I remember when Drude decided to start producing these but aready had mine.

Great for a Cub, but please DO NOT use a bumper jack on a Taylorcraft bungee! Great way to make new openings in the fuselage or your head!

Yea, I know, some guys have done it and really know what they are doing, but it is WAY too easy to screw up and kill yourself. You won't even see it coming.

Hank, I have changed about 50 bungies with a bumper jack, it works good if you use care. Tim

Agree, but a first time guy with no one experience could get themselves killed. I didn't always have the good tool either. Scared myself pretty good with a bumper jack. You HAVE TO know what you are doing.
We can always find SOMEONE with one to loan or one for sale. For me at least, the risks with a jack are just not worth it, ESPECIALLY when I have one of the good tools.

Funny, Tim. You could do these in your sleep with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver with your experience . You've forgotten more than I know. You make me chuckle.
            Cheers,

Got to agree with that Marty. Tim can do things I wouldn't even think of doing myself.

Try changing bungees with 2 ratchet straps, it sucks!
