    Re: WTB Post war ribs

I have ribs, but no time to get them off the wreck wings until I get the high priority work done. Wish you weren't all the way in Iowa! If you have a reason to be in SE Virginia you could remove them.....or wait for me to tear the crash wings down.

      Thanks Hank,

I will be going to N Carolina before too long. However I would guess it is still quite a ways on out to your place.

I am in the very south east corner of Virginia. You can almost walk to the NC border. Where will you be going in NC? The airport is on US 13 just south of Suffolk VA.

I will be in the Ashville area. I will do a little checking to see how far it is on over you way.

Between 320 and 380 miles to just south of Suffolk VA (SFQ) depending on how much sight seeing and weather avoidance you do.

              Hi Mark,

What do you anticipate having to pay for these ribs?

I have seen prices all over the place. I would love to swap some stamped metal ones for the earlier stick type. When it is time to recover the 41 and am betting there will be broken ribs.

That is just for the section from the rear spar aft in the aileron bay. You need to add $155.00 to that to get all 3 rib pieces.

I am pretty sure we can beat that price. ;-)

                          ahh...

Tom, I misunderstood the discussion, my bad, yes the $63 that I looked up was for the rear portion only.

I see now that I misread the original post.

Anyhow Univair seems to have them.

                            Re: WTB Post war ribs

I recall that about 1 year or two ago Aeronca ribs cost me about $100 each and Univair and Wag Aero's prices were in the same ballpark.

So I suspect that Univair can be competitive when competition forces it.

Taylorcraft ribs are more complex and come in 3 pieces and left right rather than just one like Aeronca so that must raise the capital costs.

So its reasonable to me that the t-craft rib will be more but 2.5 times seems like a lot.

Problem is that they appear to be the only source.

left flange or right flange from pilot perspective?
