Here are a few more. They were interior handles and the photos are with the 41 exterior handles (which I am still looking for one of but have substitutes if anyone else is having trouble finding them). The interior handles were also used on other years and fit on the square shafts like on the exterior handle.

Hank, you need to look in a old hardware store. The handles for the deluxe were Dexter screen door handles.

Found a lock smith with some old Dexter latches, but no luck on the handles. If anyone finds one let me know. The one I need is the one on the LEFT in both of the previous photos. I have the inside cast handle, but need the outside one with the square shaft.

I still have several of the handles Glen is selling, but have never been able to get them off of the doors! I only have one that is off and have been saving it to see if a local foundry can make them. I have also looked at casting them with carbon reenforced resin if anyone wants to go that route, but they would DEFINITELY not be original then! I doubt anyone could tell the difference though.

dexter handles were used on furnace access panels back in the 50,s and 60,s also. I got a pair years ago off a scrapped old oil burner furnace,(Lenex I think), and run a 1/4-28 die over the square shank and are still on my airplane. Over 41 years service so far and aprox. 3500 hrs. No problem . Several years ago I repaired one for a friend that was getting rounded off on the corners, so I welded it and ground it square again, and did the same to the flat steel handle for the inside. Used a tapered square 1/4 in. file to get it back to size. Worked like a champ. Lowes or menards has acorn nuts to screw on to hold the handle together in either brass, chrome, or stainless.

Mike, I was going to ring you back but the above message got lost in all the posts. Just found which thread you mentioned the handle in. I am FOR SURE interested if you have one!

                  Thanks
