  • starting my restoration.

    Hello everyone,
Last October I purchased an L-2B project and now I am ready to start on the restoration. The project is pretty much complete, the usual parts are missing; glass, wood, and instraments. Some parts I have but need to be rebuilt, replaced or manufactured. I have decided to start with the landing gear and brakes. The project came with the Shinn brakes and I have inventoried my parts and I am missing the springs and one adjustment nut. So if anyone out there can help me find these parts it would be a great help.
    Thanks

    james:
skybound has your brake parts. Look under "Technical Resources" on the left side of the home page.

The L-2 makes a great restoration project. (but IMHO you're starting with the most difficult frustrating part, those Shinn brakes. Don't get discouraged.)

Glad to see another L2 in the works. Don't know if you know of the STC to upgrade to C-85/O200 but if you contact Terry Bowden (Barnstmr) in this site he will gladly give you the details.

Welcome, James. You will find it frustrating and rewarding!

You are within a 45 minute drive of one of the larger piles of Taylorcraft parts in the country. Let me know what you are needing. I don't have everything but I have a lot of stuff

Strange, sent a reply and the site jammed up on my computer. Try number two. Sorry if this is a dupe.
Anybody have any side cowl trim for a pre-war (like the ones pictured at the top of this site) and hinge material for the top cowl? There were members working on them but they seem to have dropped through the cracks.
I am also looking for a battery box that was mounted to the floor in front of the seat. I would like to copy one so good pictures, drawings, or even a junk one would help.

Hank, I have the original one from my '40, BC-65. Send my a private email
at [email protected] and I'll forward a picture. I haven't figured out how to post on this Forum.
