Re: Header Tank Fuel Shut-off Valve

I got the handles punched out, now I need to get the material for the pins, get them brazed, plated, and assembled. Tim

Terry Bowden has convinced me to persue the STC for the valves, he will be the seller when I get the tooling built and all of the drawing submitted to MIDO for approval. Tim

Re: Header Tank Fuel Shut-off Valve

I went to the plating shop on Friday afternoon and they said that they could plate yellow zinc over the silver braze. Now I need to see if they can provide me a few samples that are plated so I can evaluate the process. There is a minimum charge so I have to be cautious so that I do not spend money unwisely.

Re: Header Tank Fuel Shut-off Valve

Here is one of the tools that I had to build, what a time consuming process, it was several hours with a DRO mill with a power feed. The top block is 4340 normalized and the lower is 7050t541 aluminum with a pair of Carr Lane toggle clamps. I also built a fixture to braze them using a toggle clamp and a large piece of 4340 block. Both pieces of 4340 were ground on a surface plate and the drill dimensions are within .0005 with a tolerance of .0035. Just a little eye candy.

Handles are brazed, need to be drilled and then off to plating. So if anyone needs one, I will have a source for them. Tim

Re: Header Tank Fuel Shut-off Valve

For anyone who is interested in getting a new header tank valve for their airplane, please feel free to contact Terry Bowden for pricing and availability. Until the STC is complete, I will make them on an individual basis under the owner produced parts. There is enough materials left from this batch to build 11 more valves but Terry is who you must go through to purchase. I will answer specific questions for those who have any pertaining to fit or their application. Tim
