  • 46 BC12D aileron bell crank play

I have a small amount of play between the bell crank and bracket. Is there a bushing in this assembly? Thanks

Not sure where your play is, but yes there should be a bushing.

Barney, can you video the play? Most occurs in the push rod between the bellcrank & the aileron itself.

The play is definitely between the bell crank and bracket. When I put my finger where the crank meets the bracket, and move the crank, I can feel the play.

You need to find out if it is the shaft, crank or if you are lucky the bushing that is worn. Any machine shop should be able to re-bush the fitting, just inspect carefully for cracks! Don't forget to check with whoever will have to sign the paperwork before spending the money to repair it.

Thanks for the replys. No cracks were found, just needs to be rebushed. I have had problems in the past getting airplane parts worked on locally. The “this part is off an airboat” story probably won’t work with an aileron bell crank.

For a bushing i would just make a drawing of what I wanted and not say ANYTHING about what it was going to be used on. For my own plane I would just use my laith and make it myself. I REALLY need to set that laith up again!
