  • Climb Prop

Our BC12D has a Sensenich number W72GK 44 prop, which is a great Climb-Prop but we could use some more "cruise" !

Our engine is a C85 with "Don's Dream Machine" components so it has plenty of power.

Appreciate any suggestions on alternate cruise-props !

    Thanks, Jack Ryder

Have it repitched cheaper than buying a different one. Your mechanic can handle getting that done.

Not sure how you would repitch a wood prop.

I have reworked a few model propellers looking for better performance, but I find it hard to make much change to the pitch without losing too much of the blade.

At 2,400 RPM cruise we are doing 85-90 MPH.
At full throttle in level flight the engine will do about 2,700 RPM. ( 200 RPM over Red-Line )

Back when I was building Falcon (Fahlin) props, I built a 74/45 that performed very well on 85's. try to find a prop to borrow and test before deciding on replacement.

What might be a good metal prop to consider ?

What does the STC give as parameters for the propeller? I think that would be a good starting point.

74-46 or 72-48, 74 are hard to find without paying dumb money

I had a 74-43 on my o-200 powered deluxe and loved the climb. I had to keep it wrapped up to get any speed out of it. I also ran the 69-50 on it and while it cruised good, climb sucked.

85 is limited to 72 inches in diameter from what I remember, or maybe 70”
