  • Extra seat sling cable

When I took the seat sling completely out of my 41 I found something interesting and wanted to know if anyone else has ever seen it.
Where the wires from the lower longeron to the center of the seat sling cross they are retained by the little rectangular wired on the cross tube tube. What was different on my plane was someone looks like they have added a cable on each side from the ends of the cross tube that attach to the front lugs for the cross wires to the longeron lugs. I have never seen another plane with these two wires and think they may have been added to help with the loads in the front wire. I see no reason they are needed and haven't seen them before.
Anyone else have them? Were they a pre-war thing I just didn't know about? Didn't see them on any of the IPBs and probably would have never even seen them at all if I hadn't pulled the sling all the way out so my IA could get a better look in the belly and so I could take some photos of how the sling is laced in.
    Anyone?

Looks like someone was worried about the seatbelt attachment not being strong enough.

Since no one else has chimed in that these were ever properly installed on any Taylorcraft I intend to cut them off when I put the seat sling in. If ANYONE has ever seen these on their seats. please speak up or they are history.

I will put them on the shelf with the Taylorcraft brick.

        No, never seen them.

I've seen worse home-made horror stories on Taylorcraft seats, mind you.

Hank, I don't think they were using that kind of cable end when your airplane was built. That would be a good clue that it was added at some point later in its life.
