  • Service Manual

Good morning folks I just recently bought a 1980 f-21 and i'm looking for a service manual. I see links for operators and parts maunuals but no service manual. I'm trying to find specs like cable tensions, bolt torques and stuff of that nature. Could someone please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks New Guy

You must have came over from pipers or Cessna which still have support , cable tensions are pretty loose, bolt torques comes from 41.13...there is not much available manual wise, try essco and see what they have. Best of luck to you. Tim

And ask here about anything specific. There are plenty of people who have done it right and wrong who will give you good advice.

Welcome, JPickens, I hope you will find the answers to your questions. We are always willing to help as far as we can!

I can't help you with this specific question (I have an older B model) but someone will hopefully pipe up in due course.

You will also get the best answers by being specific. As an example asking what torque should be used for an AN-4 bolt will probably only get you a quote from the bolt standard. Asking what torque should be used for the front spar wing attach bolt to the fuselage will get you much better information. (Hint, it SHOULD NOT be torqued! The wing attach bolts act as PINS, there should NOT be tension on the bolt!) You should be able to put a socket on the cotter keyed bold and it should TURN. If you torque the wing attach bolts you are putting bending stress on the fuselage lugs. Same is true of the landing gear attach bolts.
Best to also put one question for each post and label it so it can be found easily next time.

I just got out of a stinson and ya they have a separate service manual. Yes the wing bolts make sense I was most interested in cables tensions really but do want to change the engine mount rubbers so I guess Ill go with a generic torque for fastener size. Thank you folks for the quick replies I'm sure i'll have more q's down the line.
            Thanks

The engine mount rubbers are a measurement, you tighten them until so thick and then install the cotter pin if a conical mount, a dynafocal is torqued based on bolt diameter. I am not sure what engine you have if its a 235C1 or L2C because they are different.
