  • F-19 Landing Gear Bolts

Hello Everyone! Thanks for all the previous help.

Just getting ready for skis on the F19 for the first time and have the Aero skis, bungees, cables, and clips ready to go. The current landing gear bolts don't have much for washers and length so I'm going to have to order a few bolts a bit longer to accommodate the ski clips.

What I have found / measured it seems that the front and rear Bolts are both the same and AN5-20 and nut AN310-5. Does this seem correct? I didn't remove the bolts as I'm still flying and didn't want to do that until it was ski time. I have the ski clip thicknesses that attach to the bolts to hold the cables (2 for front and 1 for back) and would just add the additional length when ordering the new bolts.

Thanks for the help! I won't be around the airplane for a few days and figuring reaching out to this group confirm sizing and get them ordered pre-holiday is the best option.

Here is a link to the stock landing gear bolts I believe:

Pull one, measure it and add the thickness you need, then you know for sure. Use a long 5/16 bolt with the threads cut off and put a slight point on it. Hoist the airplane, then knock out the bolt using your pin as a drift. Good luck

Be sure to Mic the diameter! Some planes have oversize bolts!

Would they be first oversize .006" or second .012"?

Thanks for the responses. I'm out of town and was hoping to get them ordered for when I return if someone had an easy answer. If not, I will be pulling the bolts and measuring / ordering when I have sometime over Thanksgiving. Quick question, When you lift the plan and one of the landing gear is off the ground, if you pull the landing gear bolt is there a lot of tension on it because of the bungee cords? I intend to push another similar sized bolt through at the same time to avoid losing alignment but wasn't sure how much other tension was on the bolts.

          Thanks,

I have pulled the bolts before, and it isn't to big of an issue. Just pay attention to what you are doing. I have done a couple sets of upper and lower landing gear bushings in the past couple years.

              Quick update:

The front and back landing gear bolts are both AN5 - 21s. The front has one washer and the back zero washers.

Just be prepared. I have seen some variance in lengths. I got a couple of extra bolts that were longer and shorter for a lot of applications on my plane. Seemed like I always was ending up with a too long bold and 3 or 4 washers while I waited for the correct grip or had to put the old bolt back in temporarily (No, I didn't fly her with the long bolts).
