Re: going to Alliance
Lee,
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on State Street the last three years and it is pretty good. (they had a wild wedding party there at 2am one night, but the manager finally got 'em kicked out). It's about a 10 minute drive to the airport. Don Pancho's is just down the street!! Rented a car from Lavery Chevrolet. They picked us up from the airport.
Now Mike H. stayed across the street at Motel 6(?), let's see what he thought. Of course camping at the airport is a good option too. Lot's of nice people to hang out with and talk about airplanes. Check out the OAAFLY-IN.com link at taylorcraft.org. Hope to see you there. Howard20442

Re: Going to Alliance
Howard, first off thanks. When I called Holiday Inn, they knew nothing about any fly-in in Alliance. LOL, probably not an airplane guy.
Will try an fly my T-Craft, if possible. And, if not will probably drive.
My wife like to rough it, but the hardest thing she wants to do, is ring twice for room service.
Hope to see you there.Lee

Finally Going to Alliance
I have been want to come to Alliance for many years, first it was job and kids, then weather, aircraft not ready, in Annual, all kinds of reasons.
Well this year, "we am a coming". Made my Amtrak resverations yesterday. Yep, taking the train. Dem aeroplanes tat fly fo monee not safeeee. lol
Kidding of course, but I am coming by train, only bad part, I arrive at 02:00 on July 8th.
Forest, any car rentals there? I have checked Hertz, they do not have any. I will check with my hotel, the only one available. Forest said it was a "Hot Sheet" Motel. In the Navy, when we had to hot sheet, it menat two guy sharing the same bunk (not at the same time) One worked 12 hrs while the other had the bunk, then you changed. Not a good plan, but it worked. And hell when you are 17, nothing bothers you. Remember ???Lee
