L-2 Information

Hello,

Where can I get information on an early L-2, I think it is an "A" model, it does not have the big glass in back. I have aquired a project which needs wings built, fuselage is straight and painted, but with nothing attached. I do not have the paperwork yet for specifics of year and so on. Are there drawing/pictures/manuals available?

I will appreciate any help I cna get.

I doubt it is an "A". If you have the throttle handle the serial number is stamped just inside the knob. That still may not tell you correctly what it is. Wood wings? Evidence of spoilers? My bet you have a converted TG-6 glider or if you have metal wings with metal spars you have a civilian "D" model. An "A" would have the greenhouse, swivel seat, etc. Not much difference between "A" or "B" other than equipment and minor changes

It has wood wings, it does not have the green house. Thanks for getting back to me, I will be picking it up in the next couple of weeks and will be able to look at it in more detail. I would like to get service manuals as I have to reconstruct one wing.

I think I have several manuals, reprinted, for the L-2. I will go and dig them up. I used to own a B-model.

Structural Repair Instructions for Army Models L-2, L-2A and L-2B Airplanes

Erection and Maintenance Instructions for Army Models L-2, L-2A and L-2B Airplanes

Airplane Parts Catalog for models L-2, L-2A and L-2B Airplanes

Pilot's Flight Operating Instructions for Army Models L-2, L-2A and L-2B Airplanes

They are in an 8 1/2" x 11" format, copies, punched and bound. Let me know.

I know it is a lot to scan, but if someone could scan the chapters as they use them and put the electronic copies on the foundation site EVERYONE could use them. I know there are a LOT of maintenance activities that are using Nooks and IPads for maintenance so they don't need to carry manuals around and mess them up.

Just a thought, plus even if I don't have an L-2 I would like to be able to study the books.

Lots and lots and lots of pages to these manuals. Very time intensive to do and I am not sure if anyone would put the info on this site. There is AD info not on here, etc. Don't understand why it isn't, but I would see it as fruitless to scan these manuals for no reason. Sorry to be defeatist, but I don't want to spend the time and then have it fall on dead ears, (fingers)?

I realize the whole package is WAY too big a job for anyone to take on alone. What I would suggest is that as people use sections they scan them into their electronic devices and then post that chapter/section. If someone else wants that section it is already scanned, if not they could scan it and have it for the work they are doing and make it available to the rest of the tribe.
You don't volunteer to do a scan job like the full manual more than once! Been there, done that. Takes forever.

i have a scanner with a feeder, I use to scan and archive computer manuials. If the pages are loose, flat and will make it thru the feeder with out a lot of fiddling then I can scan them and produce a searchable .pdf

The L-2 CD's have the manuals already scanned. They are on CD #4.
