Re: Nc43328
Welcome, (name goes here)! Glad you found us, there is a lot of good information here. Not sure if you can find airplane diet info on thus site, but hopefully you can. I think all of the old girls get a little heavier over the years.Cheers,
Marty

Re: Nc43328
Another plane that was parked too close to the vending machines. ;-) There area LOT of planes here that need to join Weight Watchers. Over the decades everyone adds little goodies to their plane that REALLY ADDS UP over time. I took over 20# of wire and trash out of my 41 while I was re-doing her (can't really call it a restoration yet since I repainted instead of recovered). Mine hasn't been re-weighed so I don't know if the weight went up or down yet. If you haven't done it yet RE_WEIGH your plane and DON'T trust the W&B from when you bought her unless you saw it weighed! Mine showed around 760# on the W&B and that was a PURE FAIRY TALE. The CG was right at the aft limit and I was really happy I never tried a spin. I have seen planes with POUNDS of mud dobber nests in the wings when the fabric is stripped off and as much as we all seem to be addicted to sticking things ON our planes, very few ever take excess junk out.

By the way, DON'T REPAINT! It would have been MUCH easier and faster to recover, and the only cost difference would have been the cost of a can of adhesive and the actual fabric. It was MORE work to sand and paint than recover! And it doesn't look NEARLY as good!

Re: Nc43328
Re- weighed her on certified aircraft scales, she comes in at 889. To many twinkies for this old girl! lol The fabric is in good shape, but has been refurbished and painted to many times. Getting as much off her as I can, and fly the fool out of her until I get ready to recover. Already have the colors picked out! lolPatrick Dixon
