    Jim,
Got to admit the pants really do look good. I may have to give mine another go.

And of course, I kind of LIKE to wash my plane.

Yours is only a few numbers off one of our old airplanes. It was 43345 and painted just like yours except insignia blue and diana cream

Like this? My 45 was originally Taylorcraft Ivory and Metallic Blue (not modern metallic, WW-II era Metallic). It is a REALLY nice combination.

The model is actually Diana Cream and (I think) Cessna Blue. I was told by Randolph that they had provided all of the dope to Taylorcraft since before the war (not true) and that Taylorcraft Ivory was EXACTLY the same then as Diana Cream is now (also NOT TRUE). The colors look good together but the Taylorcraft Ivory is MUCH different from Diana Cream.

I found many small chips of the original dope down in the nooks and crannies on the 45 fuselage and surfaces. I also got a number of fabric scraps from several places around the country. They were on the original cotton and I ended up with about half a dozen samples that were all the same. It is actually MUCH closer to Rustolium "Ivory" spray paint than anything else. I sent samples of the paint from protected areas to Jim and Dondi and they custom mixed dope for my 41 (Taylorcraft Ivory over Metallic Maroon).

In my opinion the original Taylorcraft Ivory looks even better than Diana Cream with both the Maroon and Blue.

Now reproducing the Metallic Maroon for the 41 was a LOT harder! Seems Maroon turns kind of brown with time even when it isn't exposed to sun light. My 41 matches the chips I found, but there are many maroons that look a lot better and I think the color was MUCH brighter back in 41.

Diana cream is actually pretty dark. The original color was probably closer to sun valley ivory.

Agree, Diana Cream is MUCH darker than Taylorcraft Ivory. The Taylorcraft Ivory looks almost white next to it (it look very Ivory without the nearby Diana Cream). Like I said though, both look very good with the blue and the maroon.

I still won't be using the Diana Cream on the 45 though.
