That was Ed Torbett's plane in Texas wasn't it? The 41 p;lanes were probably the peak of quality of all early Taylorcrafts! Are you going to restore her? She is still registered so the paperwork should still be good. With 29868 there you have a great example to bring her back! Let me know if you are interested in restoration as the factory fuselage fixtures are being sold. They would make fixing the fuselage MUCH easier! We need to make sure those fixtures survive for the future of our fleet.

My original thoughts were to eventually restore. I have complete logs and documents for the airframe. Buyer kept the 85 and prop. I purchased from Insurance salvage buyer. I knew what I saw in pictures wasn't good and bought it with that in mind. This would definitely benefit from a factory fixture. Not sure there is a tube in the fuselage forward of the aft frame of the baggage that is straight. Wings look ok on the outside; expecting to find wing spars are split.

My 45 was flipped over in a wind storm and the cabin was crushed along with longeron damage and smashed up nose. She was rebuilt WITHOUT a fuselage fixture. I would NOT recommend that path. I had a lot of experience with trammeling and verifying critical dimensions and it was a LOT of work. A fixture would have made the job a snap by comparison. This is my planes fuselage after all the welding was done and she was primed and painted. Looking back it was all worth it.

Good Morning, I haven't been on here in awhile and just saw your posting about 29868, I was the proud owner of this aircraft until on Veterans Day 2023 I was taking off for a Saturday morning breakfast flight when the engine lost about 1000 RPM around 30 - 50 feet. Which resulted in a hard landing. I fared pretty well considering, but as you know the airplane not so much.

I contacted 2 shops inquirying as to the feasibility of getting it airworthy. For me there responses were not promising from a money point of view. It was a nice airplane!! Good Luck getting it back in the sky!!!
