    Hello,

I´m buying a BC12 Deluxe, the aircraft is in Brazil a few years disassembled.
The EUA register of the aircraft is "NC33953", anyone know this aircraft? Have any data about?
I´m sending a few photos of the aircraft..

HOLY CRAP!!! A 41 "Deluxe" with all the trim, the right control wheels, wheel pants and even a nice boot and front cowl that haven't been "molested" yet! About the only thing wrong I can see wrong from the photos is the windshield has been replaced with a post war "blown" windscreen (I have the drawings for the original 4 piece flat one).
This could be a show stopper plane! It even still has the original panel and the right altimeter!

      Hi Renan, welcome!

That is Bill Haselton's old airplane from South Bend, Indiana. It was a very nicely and authentically restored airplane, I saw it years ago at Oshkosh, and met Bill once on a trip through Indiana. He had made molds to cast new cowling grills, wheel pants brackets and compass mounts as I recall. Its no longer registered in the US:

The last I know about it was from this forum thread in 2012 after Bill and his wife had passed away and some family member was trying to sell it:

Advertisements of interest to Taylorcraft Forum members for things related to Taylorcraft only. Short (non-annoying) Ads by businesses ok if related to Taylorcraft.

You can order a CD with all the records on file with the FAA here:

I wonder how it got all the way to Brazil? That would be a good story I bet. Anyway, you have a pretty rare and complete airplane, there are very few Deluxes this original even in the States. You will find this forum to be the most helpful resource available, lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks here will help you with any specific issues that come up as you work on getting her back in the air.

Welcome to the Forum. Strangely enough, someone is selling a picture of this airplane on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Taylorcraft-Mo.../dp/B00D221RDW

            It's Brasil (without the Zed) to the edumucated amongst us. {edit: this is not aimed at you Renan!}

The link a few posts above refers to some posts from user "Sloanlow". Some of the info in the content of those posts raises my heckles straight away.

            Is "Sloanlow" still amongst us?

That is the orginal scheme, it was called 'Duotone'. There were five color combinations available for the Deluxe: yellow/blue with black stripe; cream/blue with black stripe; yellow/black with white stripe; cream/red with black stripe; red/black with gold stripe. I have an original factory sales brochure somewhere, but not at hand right now. I think 36061 was yellow over blue originally too.

Bill and I were flying buddies for about 35 years. Our two '41s were a matching pair and we flew them to Oshkosh and Alliance many times. I still miss him.

I guess I could add a little more information. Bill and I worked many years to make the two airplanes as original as we could. The airplane, 33953, was originally a BL12-65 that was converted to the BC12-65 configuration. Both 33953 and 29804 were original DeLuxe models from the factory. 33953 is covered with Razorback fabric and finished with Cooper dope in Lemon Yellow and Bahama Blue. It was beginning to ringworm a bit from age and Bill did some minor rejuvenating particularly at the rear of the cabin area between the wings and along the wing trailing edges. He had majored the engine, installed a new exhaust system, and new wood Sensenich propellor shortly before his passing. You need to check engine and prop serial numbers as I understand that Bill's hangar was broken into shortly after his death and the engine turned up missing. Within a few weeks the "engine"reappeared sitting on the hangar floor. The aircraft has/had an auto fuel STC and an EBC 102A ELT installed. During the last annual I was taking a break and sat behind the airplane. As I do with most T-Crafts, I counted the wing ribs. I counted 13. The BC/BL12-65 airplanes have a 1200 pound gross weight, consequently they have 15 wing ribs in each wing. I called this to Bill's attention, but he did not have a chance to do anything about it before he passed.

Where are you located? I would love to stay in touch. I have fond memories of our trips to Oshkosh and Alliance together. Many fly-ins and airplane parts scouting adventures. Talking about the times together makes missing him a little easier.

Just checked my logbooks. I first flew 33953 on October 14, 1973. Do the math-42 years ago. Damn, time goes by fast.
