My name is David Grubbs, not Wilbur, that's my grandfather. I purchased my '46 BC12D about two years ago. N44090 was purchased new by a gentleman in Columbus, Montana. It has been there it's entire life. I purchased it from a gal on the field. It has changed hands about 4 times but didn't get flown much. It's in beautiful shape with fresh cover. It only has 1200 hours total time. I've been told it was Red and Black when it was new. I love the plane. I got my ticket in a '50 Cessna 140A. I then purchased a '46 Luscombe in a million pieces and restored it to new. I flew it for awhile and sold it. I guess it's in California now. I then built a Peitenpol from a set of plans. NEVER AGAIN! I sold it just before she was ready to fly. My Taylorcraft is better than all of them. It gets off shorter than all the others and is much more fun to fly. I put about 80 hours on her this past summer alone. I have attached some pix for you to see. Thank you for welcoming me everyone and I'm looking forward to being part of the tribe!

Welcome David! I was just through Billings last week. I'm just outside of Kalispell... Hanson, on the sectional.... Glad to see more Montanans on here! That's one clean looking Tcraft!! I suppose Alan Rickman was taking care of it?

Alan covered it and performed the annuals for decades but not for the past 15 years. I was going to buy this plane 15 years ago for 10K from the original owner's daughter. I planned to purchase it with a friend. As we were making the deal him and another friend were killed in a Cub crash near by. I decided not to buy it. I finally got the plane years later but for twice the price. It's all worth it to me and I don't have a partner in it. Anyway, thanks guys. Montana T-Craft we should get a T-craft fly-in planned sometime. There are a lot of them in the Eastern Montana area. N96337 I couldn't find Hanson on the sectional.

Alan's a great guy and does fine work! If you go on the GF sectional, follow hiway 2 west from Kalispell, towards Libby. You'll see Cabin Creek, then Hanson's off to the South and a couple miles West from there. 2400' of grass...drop in any time!

I found it. I will stop by sometime. I purchased my Luscombe from a gentlemen in Kattlesmell. I can't remember his name. I remember he had some really old by-planes. I think he had a travel all.

A Montana Fly-in would be fun. Perhaps someplace in the middle of the state with a good restaurant would be a good place to start. Charles

Three forks is always a good spot. They have a great hotel and restaurant and lots of room to camp on the field.

That was probably Ray Sanders that you got the Luscombe from. I think I remember him having a project once. He's all out of it now.
We can always have a BBQ and meet here anytime in the summer....

Yes, It was Ray. I paid way too much for the airplane but it was my first and didn't know any better. I broke even when I sold it and had a lot of fun flying it. Your place sounds great. I will have to stop in sometime.

Hypothetically speaking, what would happen to someone if they showed up to the Montana fly in with a J3?
1940 BC-65 that needs minor work...

It would just be a bigger celebration.

And there would be a lot of good natured teasing. ;-) After all, Taylor DID design the Cub too!

Most of us love Cubs too, we just won't admit it in front of the Piper purists.
