  • Thank you

Thank you, thank you, thank you American taxpayers,

For only the second time in my adult life, I am not ashamed of my country.

I want to thank the hard working American people for paying $242 thousand dollars plus additional expenses for my vacation in Spain . My daughter Sasha , several long-time family friends, my personal staff and various guests had a wonderful time. Honestly, you just haven't lived until you have stayed in a $2,500.00 per night suite at a 5-Star luxury hotel. We only booked 70 rooms for our friends, staff and family. Thank you also for the use of Air Force 2 and the 70 Secret Service personnel who tagged along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all times.

Air Force 2 only used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel for this trip and carbon emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2. It costs only $11,500 per hour to operate Air Force 2 and each additional plane for the other members of our party group. These are only rough estimates, but they are close (who's counting?). That's quite a carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must ask the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and drive less too, so we can lessen our combined carbon footprint.

I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on the table and trying to make ends meet. I do appreciate your sacrifice and do hope you find work soon. I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a luxury vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few days. Will write more from Martha's Vineyard where we will spend our sixth vacation this year with more of our family and friends.

    Cordially,

      Re: Thank you

Since when did the Taylorcraft foundation forum become a place for political ranting? Save it for the Fox news blog. I come here to enjoy myself and learn about my airplane and not hear more political rhetoric. Lord knows we get enough of it by watching cable news.

Moderators - please keep this site about airplanes or you will lose my support!!!

        Humor, Rants & Raves
Jokes, Politics, Soap box statements and anything else you want to say. As long as its at rated PG13 or better.

The humor rants and raves is for this type of dialogue. Keeps it out of the airplane stuff. Sorry to lose your "support" but I for one think this a great place to vent.

          Re: Thank you

We (and almost every other group) have tried to do everything possible to keep threads on topic. The ONLY way any have been successful is by having a "Rants & Raves" section. ALL of us get a little torqued off by something every once in a while and this is the place to put it.
I DON'T want anyone to leave, but this section has to stay. Easiest thing to do if there is too much you don't like is not read this section. If we remove it or filter it all the little comments start showing up in the regular posts, and that just causes too many problems.
Please stay and just ignore this section.

            Re: Thank you

Thats fine...but every where you turn there is somebody yapping about politics. I was hoping to be free of it here and focus on airplanes. You're right though, it's a free country...rant all you want. I'm going to go blast out into the bush and find a nice sand bar to land on. Surely CNN or Fox won't follow me there...

                Re: Thank you

I'm going to stand in the middle here. I personally LIKE the rants section, even when the post is opposite of what I believe. I also do NOT think we should talk politics and all the other entertainment "junk" in the regular posts. I would support a polite "Please take this to the Rants & Raves section" response to those and if the Rants &* Raves gets offensive, stop reading them.
This is a good working site. It's well worth the Foundation membership (HINT HINT to the folks who haven't joined, this site ain't running for free you know!). We let EVERYONE in without joining the foundation. There was even some recent posts from those "Piper" guys! (Don't worry, we will even slow down so you can fly with us). I don't want to loose ANYONE, but you have to allow the same leeway for others that you want for yourself.

Here's a suggestion. Why don't you start a web site that bans political discussion, rants and raves. That way people with no opinion can go on and and not express anything. Those of us who enjoy expressing ourselves can choose not to be members. Much like you can choose not to click on our link to humor, rants and raves.

                    Re: Thank you

I'm betting you can't find a site over 3 years old that banns off topic and has anyone on it anymore. The Nieuport Builders site (the first one when Graham Lee was still alive) seems to have just dried up and blown away without all the good natured ribbing (and some NOT so good natured).

                      Re: Thank you

Lest we forget......thank you "little bush" (as the chinese call him) for....starting two wars,4500 American troops dead, 35000 wounded, together, costing well over 2 trillion, and as you started them, giving a trillion dollar taxbreak to the weathiest among us. Fuel? one can only imagine how much fuel our forces have burned in Iraq and Afganhistan, it surely has driven the price of OUR fuel up considerably! Remember how much a gallon of regular was in 2000? Thanks also for lying about your service to our country, (how you got in the guard, and then your last year, when you refused to take a flight physical and didn,t show up for duty. It cost well over a mill to train you as a pilot) Your lies about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq are also noted. Then of course you spent over a year of your presidency in Crawford Texas, strutting around in your cowboy clothes and showing how "macho" you were. Can we forget the aircraft carrier fiasco? When you announced the end of hostilities in Iraq, again, dressed up ,this time in a little flight suit? Aircraft carriers cost how much an hour to run? Worst president of all time, including Nixon! Just curious why someone that doesn't like Rants or Raves would be cruising & viewing the "Humor, Rants & Raves" section of a forum in the 1st place

It dropped to 65 last night and I feel a lot better this morning, I too do not know about why we keep electing "losers" or do we?? The vote has been pretty even every time; big money can buy the elections ( sometimes). Lets worry more about this weather situation at the moment. Good luck to all!! At least at the Fly-Ins we don't have R's & D's separated on the field. Just Aviators all together. Soon we may realize we all have to be "Earthlings"

                              Re: Thank you

Quick weather report from south-east Virginia. The river that runs behind our house had DEEP water when we got up this morning (Earl's first storm surge). In an hour it turned into a big mud flat as the wind drove the water all down stream. Right now there is a trickle coming back up the river and we have about 3 hours to high tide. If the wind swings around from the west just after high tide we will get a flood tide. Our house is 11' above the high tide mark so I don't think there is much threat. Looks like Earl passed just far enough out to not tear things up and just close enough to loose a lot of strength. It went from a 4 to a 2 as it passed us.
God looks out for small children, Taylorcraft pilots and nut cases who build houses on the banks of tidal rivers!
