  • For the old skydivers amongst us ...

Saw this photo today on Facebook and flashed back to several fond memories of one way airplane rides ...

I think I would caption it: "Turning points / 4-way Doggy Dirt Dive"

    I miss those days.

    Blue skies,

Absolutely ... I already stole it (public domain)!

On a related note; anybody else ever have someone skydive out of their Tcraft? Years ago, back when I had a 65 hp engine, I took the door off, the seat cushion out, and hauled my 230 lb friend up to about 3,000 for a hop-and-pop jump. We labored along for what seemed like 30 or 40 minutes to get to altitude and lined up over my dad's hayfield. I was maintaining heading and about 50 mph airspeed as we reached the "spot". Just before he crawled out, he leaned over to me, grinned, and shouted "CUT!" .... I flipped him off. He then crawled out on the strut with both feet on the right tire. It was my turn to grin as I released the brake and sent him spinning off into the wild blue.

I never trusted anyone enough to let them fly and give me an opportunity to jump out of my Tcraft ... wish I had.

Rod, a friend of mine has an STC for a cuff and the door being off for skydiving from his Tcraft. I did one out of a Pitts once.... he did a split s and at the top, just before he rolled upright, I let go and out I came. hehhee Funmeter pegged!

I know a guy who has dumped them out of a T6 before, but he did have one bang the tail and get hurt pretty bad.

I'm sorry, Bird, your picture (even enlarged) is not big enough to see how ugly you were back then. :boxing:

Perhaps now, in the intervening years since 1986, you have become a bastion of good-looking maturity?

What's that you were jumping from..C180?
