  • Banjo Control wheels

I came across a pair of banjo control wheels for sale for $100 each. I offered the guy $100 for both, but he didn't budge.
I have decent pretzel wheels now, but I've always really liked the banjo wheels.

Anybody have a feel for what a decent price for these should be?

$100 each is very fair for those

Yea, I may give him a $100 bucks just to get the hubcap in the center of the wheel. I need one and can't find a freeze plug large enough to replicate what I need. I have over $350 in chrome alone on my banjo's.

Larry check out the cummings diesel eng rebuilders for freeze plugs that are larger

Bumping this thread back open since there are a set of Banjo wheels on their second listing on e-Bay. He is asking a starting bid of $200. If anyone knows who is selling them we would be interested in talking to whoever buys them. A couple of us are looking at getting the parts re-plated and doing them as a group would save some money. Possibly a LOT of money, since setup is a significant cost.
          THE listing is at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tayl...3D151262268862
          The item number is 151270442778
Bidding ends on April 13, 2014

OK, the system isn't putting the whole address in so go to eBay and type in the item number. We have a possible 4 wheels so far if anyone else is interested in getting their Banjos plates. I have some extra Pretzels that could be loaned out so you can keep flying, but they are pretty NASTY looking.

I was wondering how long it would be before you found these, Hank. Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tayl...item23386bc71a

I have a set of banjos on my '41 deluxe and checked on getting the center hub cap and the spokes plated, but I just couldn't afford it. I took them apart, painted the rims, then painted the spokes with chrome rattle can paint and clearcoat, then polished the hubcaps. They look a lot better than they did, but I sure would like to get them plated.

I would be interested in joining a group that is formed to have a bunch done at once (assuming that it is cheap enough that I can justify it).

Please include me with the group when you get the plating done. I checked into this earlier and found it prohibitively expensive. I ended up painting with silver paint on the spokes of the banjo and on the freeze plugs. Looks ok but would really rather get them plated.

You may want to have them powder coated. I do not know first hand, but heard that it can be done and looks just like chrome and a whole bunch cheaper.
