Has a little hanger rash, busted the red lens on the wing tip light.

Is this the replacement for my 1946 BC-12D ?

Is there a LED replacement bulb too?

On both of my planes the bulb is clear and the lens is tinted. That looks like the tail lens. What you are looking for is a Grimes light lens if your wing tip looks like the first photo. The lens looks like photo 2 (with a part number for the right color, remember the color of the lens is what it is FILTERING, not the color it will be when lit up, and don't forget to get a bail wire (photo 3) since they usually get lost when you knock off the lens). Sound like I have done this a few times? Make sure the lens has the two little bumps for the bail wire. If not the lens will come off again and break and they are not cheap.
I want to use LEDs on my lights too so if you get it approved please pass on what was required. It is EASY to do, but the FAA approval is the problem.

Doing it is easy, getting it approved is what I am interested in. Does anyone have approval paperwork to use s a guide? When you are living with a battery alone the LED solution gives a LOT of illumination time for very little battery.

You would have to check, but I think they are a MIL SPEC part. I think that is what people were using for the basis of installation.
