  • Wing Tank Plumbing

Notice (in the picture below) that my wingtank plumbing has always run on the inside of my A-Pillar. Is this correct?
I would really rather run it on the other side of the A-pillar. Anybody have it on that side?

    another pic
Also let me say to Hank that I have read, and have taken to heart, his posts about copper lines (which I believe I have here).
I'll go back together with aluminum lines.

      Re: Wing Tank Plumbing

Yours is routed down pretty much like mine except that mine is actually clamped to the A pillar. Mine does run between the wing and fuselage instead of between the covering and head liner. I added two connectors at the leading edge (two 90* fittings) because that was where I found the hidden kink in the line that was slowing my fuel transfer so much. Now if I need to take a wing off I can disconnect the fitting and not have to fight with the fuel tank fitting in the small gap between the wing and fuselage. I also used the braided fuel line in the wing root to give some flexibility there. I am REALLY afraid of fuel leaks.

I also had the big sweeping turns in the line to clear the aileron cables which I put in the new lines. Control cables make great saws when in contact with aluminum (or copper) fuel lines!

        Tim,

Your plumbing looks similar to mine, but I routed mine between the wing & the fuselage until forward of the doorpost. The valve is under the dash.
