Camp under the wing! Wot Motel, eh? It's a Taylorcraft fly-in, not a Beech Bonanza fly-in!

There are a couple of hotels in town, just cannot remember which brands they are. If the heat there is anything like here, 101 right now and still climbing, screw the camping. Nothing like a/c and showers. Apparently I'm an upper crust Taylorcraft owner and enjoy my amenities.
      Cheers,

I work outside and approve this message. I have a hard time at Oshkosh for the same reason. It is 99 here and climbing, 3 days of over 100 and 9 days in the upper 90's! But at least I have power and AC.

If the forcast hold tomorrow will be 10 days of triple digits temps here in southern IL. A couple of those days were 108° and today is forcast for 109°, but I'm not sure it is going to get there.

102 here now, Tom. I always heard it was warmer in the south, but didn't think 100 miles would make that big of a difference.

Alliance is 99 right now and forecast for 98 tomorrow. Not much difference.

Events conspired against me and NC44274 this year, and at the last minute we had to cancel. I hope next year! I have missed only a couple in 36 years!

Re: Taylorcraft Fly-In to Alliance 2012

I was in Alliance on Friday as well as my friend George Wilts and his Wife Janis who camped there two nights. The record heat (over 100) the nasty storms in Ohio conspired against the event this year. The placement of the 4th of July midweek did not help. My hat is off to Forrest for even trying. Events of any kind are a lot of work. I did enjoy the company of the few T-crafters that maid it and as always enjoyed seeing their airplanes and more importantly them. Hope for better next year.

Did anyone take any photos? Too hot to fly? How was the fly-in?

The big problem was the TFR form Obama's motor cade. That and being to hot.
