Re: Ferry flight from South East Virginia to Kansas City
Don't know when I will be flying again, but probably not real soon. I got the surgery on the right knee and it was doing great when the left one collapsed. Now I have to start over on the other side. I just got to get in the Taylorcraft last week for the first time since last February. I am 6'2" and right at 200# (FINALLY!) and getting turned backwards with my arms up in the headliner to hook up the aileron cables is a real challenge even when I CAN kneel on the seat. Now I doubt I can get in the door at all again. I need a "T" savvy, 5' kid who knows how to hook up the cables without dropping the bolts. ;-)
I am about out of things I can do on the exterior from the firewall aft. Time to build up the engine and get her hung, except I am not real good at moving heavy parts right now.
Looks like I will miss a few more fly-ins this summer. Hopefully by fall everything on the plane and in the cockpit will be full systems. Wish I could hve caught up with the Taylorcraft guys who showed up at the Virginia State fly-in. Saw the planes, but never found the owners.
