What a GREAT find! I have a set of original "T" Pants, but don't have the Taylorcraft "Bird" doubler for the outside face where the axle ends. If you get a chance to make a rubbing and measure the thickness with a depth gauge I would love to see it. Those are going to clean up great. I never put mine on to fly, but they really look good on a plane for local fly-ins.

If you land in cut grass or the slightest bit of mud, they will pick up "mess" better than a brand new bagging mower!

I "think" there should be a hole in the "Bird" that a bolt went through and into the wheel nut. The wheel nut was threaded for the axle on one end and had a smaller threaded hole for the pant on the other end.

No idea, the hangar owner had lots of parts of lots of airplanes, a forward section of a '40 fuselage, a pair of BC12-65 wings with minor wind damage, and some other misc parts came with these, but he was not sure of the origin of the pants. They will go on 36061 someday hopefully, after a good reworking.

One pant has the hole, one does not, apparently the "bird" was replaced on that one but never reinstalled.
