BC65 12D Pulleys

Starting to put her back together. The pulleys are lube soaked and should be replaced. The conversion from the original drawing is difficult to say the least. I have A228 pulleys on the drawing and such and there is no quick conversion. Before I get on the phone I did not know if anyone has a complete MS part numbers for all the pulleys and hardware.

You can buy nice ball bearing pulleys here http://www.barnstormers.com/cat.php?mode=listing&main=. Search for Taylorcraft pulleys. Not cheap, but everyone seems happy with the quality. You're not too far from me. We should get together and compare projects sometime.

I member here just got done installing all ball bearing pulleys. Just search for pulleys and you should find it. The post is by Chuck Avon. Pricey, but apparently worth it.

John I just did replace all the pulleys in my plane and it made a grate difference in control friction the ailerons are so smooth the 16 pulleys were just over $400.00 I think it was well worth it and i do have 14 old pulleys that i will sell if interested call me at 931 306 9484 Here is the contact info for the guy that i got the new pulleys from. OH they are faa/pma and all the hardware are an3 bolts and locking nuts as there is no rotation on the bolt. The company name is Classic Aero LLC and there # 480 650 0883 the total cost shiped was $ 430.40 chuck just checked the size of the bolts they are AN3-7 times 15 and one long one it's AN3 also that goes on right side and carries three pulleys I used lock nuts chuck

Were these basically all the pulleys in the cabin area as well as the couple that are right behind your head? I've never counted them before.

My pulleys were also lube soaked so I ran them through my ultrasonic cleaner with a water based detergent and they cleaned right up. I also bored them out 0.015" and had new over sized bushings made from bronze oil light bushing stock, that took all the side slop out from 30 plus years of wear. The reason I went this way was all the new pulleys I found are only 0.250" wide and the original Taylorcraft ones are 0.340" wide and I wanted to stay original.

Like Rich, I rebushed my existing pulleys, but with phosphor bronze bushings. About $25 for the lot (8 years ago). I was (and still am, 500 hours later) very happy with the result.

Marty yes that is all the pulleys in the cabin and behind your head also under door sill right side is were that long bolt is threw the two for elevator and one for the rudder there are 6 at1.75in and 10 at3 in for 1/8 in cable and 3/16 hole my old pulleys were wore very deep in the groove witch allowed slack in cables that went away also
